About Moisture Meters
Moisture within a material, when left unchecked, can have disastrous results. In storage applications, moisture in the air or leaking from an area can cause significant damage to delicate materials (such as wood) and can also cause damage to properties.
To combat moisture build-up, regular testing of materials using a moisture meter is recommended. Available as both invasive and non-invasive models, a moisture meter either scans the surface of a material for a build-up of water content or alternatively includes pin electrodes that can be inserted directly into the material for more accurate measurements below the surface.
Some meters are also dual function, allowing the user to choose whether they'd like to delve below the surface or simply scan the material for moisture. Depending on the model used moisture content may be displayed as a digital value or the meter may use LED/audio indicators to show the level of moisture.
