The device works by simply plugging in the Martindale plug device into your socket. 

The Martindale check plug will then automatically start testing the socket and let you know if there are any problems. There are LEDs on the front of the device, which will let you know if there are any problems with the socket. When there is a problem, you will see a red LED light showing. There will also be a warbled buzzing tone, which is also there to alert you to a problem. The orange light is also there to alert you to a problem. If, however, the Martindale CP201 250V Industrial Check Plug shows a green light and emits a constant tone, then you can be sure that the device has clarified that the industrial socket is working the way it should and is safe.
