The Nikon D3 is the first camera from Nikon to feature a full frame senor, and is Nikon’s current top model. While most DSLRs have a crop factor of about 1.5 because of their smaller senor size, the full frame sensor has no crop factor because it is about the same size as 35mm film (36 x 23.9mm); by comparison the sensor size of the Nikon D80 for example is only 23.6 x 15.8mm. As an added advantage the D3 can still be used with the Nikon DX lens designed for the smaller sensor size as well as the FX lens especially designed for the full frame sensor, although that would negate the advantage of the full frame sensor, you would gain a little speed about 11 frames per second as opposed to the 9 fps in FX mode. This is based on the fact that camera lens were original designed for 35mm film cameras.

The post on April 1st was an April fools joke, and there were no real UFOs in Providence. Sorry to disappoint anyone if you actually believe there were UFOs. The strange object in the post from April 1st was…

Just a couple of hours ago a woman was abducted by a UFO at the Rhode Island State House. The area is now closed down, along with most of downtown Providence. I just happened by the area around noon time and this disc shaped object basically materialized out of the air and began moving extremely fast…

Fort Wetherill is a historic fort located on Conanicut Island, which contains the entire the city of Jamestown and sits in the middle of Narraganset Bay. The location had fortifications going back as far as the colonial period. The site was called the battery at Dumpling Rock, and served together with the then newly constructed Fort Adams in Newport to protect the East Passage of Narragansett Bay.

The Warwick Neck Lighthouse is located at the bottom of Warwick Neck. The lighthouse has played a pivotal role in directing ships through the upper parts of Narragansett Bay to and from Providence. The current lighthouse is run by the Coast Guard under the Department of Homeland Security.

This photograph of the Jamestown Verrazno Bridge was taken just over a week ago. The Jamestown Verrazno Bridge spans the West Passage of Narragansett Bay, and replaced the old Jamestown Verrazno Bridge in 1992. Although, the old bridge still remained standing an unused until April of 2006 when they finally demolished it. The photograph was taken from Jamestown (a town which covers all of Conanicut Island) looking across the bay towards plum beach in North Kingstown.

This is a photograph of a Coast Guard Cutter heading in along the East passage of Narragansett Bay. Then the ship just happen to cruise right under the large sun disc, which I believe really enhances the photograph. This along with the way the light looks as though has bent around the rocks(even though the light did not actually bend) really makes this photograph one of my favorites.
